Thank you for bringing people to South Georgia - one of the most remarkable places on Earth.
Every season, operators and expedition leaders like you make it possible for thousands of people to witness king penguins and elephant seals in one of the world's great wildlife landscapes - glaciers, sub-Antarctic seas, and a wilderness unlike anywhere else on the planet. That encounter matters. It fosters a connection with the natural world that lasts long after the voyage home.
An encounter worth making
The visitors you bring don't just see South Georgia - they carry it home. The person who watched king penguins at St Andrews Bay, or elephant seals hauled out at Gold Harbour, becomes an advocate for its protection for the rest of their life. You make that possible.
Permits that protect
The revenue generated through visitor permits funds the government that looks after these islands - the biosecurity operations, wildlife science, and management systems that ensure South Georgia remains a place worth visiting. Responsible access and environmental stewardship are not in tension here - they are the same thing.
A recovery still in progress
The eradication of invasive rats, mice, and reindeer. Ground-nesting seabirds returning to areas of the island that were silent for decades. None of this happened by chance - it happened through sustained effort, careful science, and the belief that recovery is possible. The work is not finished, and your contributions remain essential to continuing it.
We are proud to welcome you, and grateful that you choose to share these islands with the world.
